The first draft of a proposed Mission and Vision for ABLA are:

Mission: ABLA is a non profit network between Binational Centers in Latin America dedicated to the promotion of excellence among its members, through joint initiatives and the exchange and fostering of best practices.

Vision: To be the leading international forum for professional achievement and institutional growth for all its members and their associates.

The Steering Committee looks forward to reading your comments!

Just want to again thank everyone who participated in this week's conference. I think it really was a landmark event both for the State Department and BNCs. We look forward to keeping the great spirit of cooperation going and look forward to exchanging ideas in the weeks ahead. We will also post useful information here for all the BNCs. Finally, please make sure to share experiences with those who weren't in Washington.

I hope everybody has had a safe journey back home.

Firstly, I'd like to thank once more all of those at the State Department involved in organizing such a meaningful conference. I think it did achieve its goal of "Relaunching the Partnership" between the State Department and BNCs.

Secondly, I'm very pleased to count on this means to share ideas with other BNCs. Our contribution is key to take advantage of this powerful communication tool.

During the conference, someone made the following suggestion about the Mission of ABLA:

Change "members" to "constituents" or something more general; reconsider a more inclusive language

JoEllen, I agree with the sentiment of using inclusive language. Not sure whether constituent is the correct word as it smacks of the political arena. Perhaps associates, instead of members, or partners, or ? I'm sure with enough people involved in this discussion, you'll find the right word.
Again, it was a pleasure to meet all of you last week and to work with you. I hope to be able to travel to Centrral and South America during this year and meet many of you again. Marsha

Back home I would like to thank everyone who made this conference possible. It was a unique opportunity to meet people who shares the same concerns and does about the same things at work. It is great to be part of this great family, the BNC's.

Regarding the word "members", I think that "partners" sounds much better.
